And, yes, this consists of everything you can expect from a coastal city, including the incredible ocean views. However, there have been several debates about this rail journey, with many questioning whether the Haeundae Sky Capsule is really worth it or just overly hyped. How about you decide it yourself after reading this IVK blog? I will even suggest the best route to choose from 😉

🕘 Haeundae Blueline Park Opening Hours

Haeundae Beach Train
Check the operating hours of the Haeundae Beach Train and the Sky Capsule before visiting.

As mentioned earlier, the Haeundae Sky Capsule is part of Haeundae Blueline Park, a core tourist facility in the Haeundae Special Tourist Zone. It has redeveloped the old railway facilities of the Donghae Nambu Line (East Sea South Line). The result is the Haeundae Sky Capsule and Haeundae Beach Train, which cover the 2 km and 4.8 km scenic route, respectively. Both trains offer the breathtaking views of Busan’s ocean and coastline. They travel from Haeundae Mijo through Cheongsapo to Songjeong. Sky Capsule is a romantic experience that includes traveling on a colorful pod 7 to 10 meters above the ground. This small aerial rail can accommodate up to 4 passengers and journeys from the Mipo Station to Cheongsapo Station.

On the other hand, the Haeundae Beach Train is a scenic coastal railway that includes multiple stops while traveling from Mipo to Songjeong. Compared to Sky Capsule, it is less private and holds more passengers. Take a look at Haeundae Beach Train’s opening hours, which change as per the season:

🕤 Operating Hours:

  • Winter Season (November-February): Mipo: 9:30-19:00 | Songjeong: 09:30-18:30
  • Off-Season (March-April, October): Mipo: 9:30-19:30 | Songjeong: 09:30-19:00

✨ IVK’s Take:

Haeundae Beach Train:

If you prefer to explore the entire coastline rather than privacy, the Haeundae Beach Train is your answer. It offers boarding from all six of its stops and is faster. The beach train is wider with ocean-facing stops, guaranteed to offer breathtaking views. It is also budget-friendly compared to Sky Capsule, featuring many affordable packages. The only downfall is the lack of privacy, where you have to share the ride with other passengers.

Haeundae Sky Capsule:

If you are all about romance, Haeundae Sky Capsule is your answer. It is smaller, separated, and private, which you can ride as a couple. It is also ideal for small groups and families who want their own space. Another highlight is the sky capsule’s elevated feature, which provides unobstructed ocean views, perfect for Instagram posts. The only downfall is that it is costly compared to the beach train. The speed is also slow to complement the romantic ambiance for passengers.

🌟 The best approach will be to combine both train rides. Take the Haeundae Sky Capsule to Cheongsapo, then ride the Haeundae Beach Train back to Mipo. The best time to ride these is absolutely during sunset!

🤔 Mipo Sky Capsule Vs Cheongsapo Sky Capsule: Which One Is Better?

Busan Sky Capsule
Choose your departure point, Mipo or Cheongsapo. (Source: Haeundae Blueline Park Facebook)

Busan Sky Capsule is one-way only, not a round-trip. This means you can only choose to go from Mipo to Cheongsapo or vice versa on this colorful pod. Regardless of your departure points, the train will follow the same route and offer the same views. Let’s analyze some pros and cons of both routes to understand which one is better.

Mipo to Cheongsapo Sky Capsule:

ProsCons
Mipo to Cheongsapo is the most popular because the capsule runs on the outer track, making it slightly closer to the ocean.Tickets sell out quickly, making it challenging to buy them on the same day.
More convenient as the Mipo Station is only a 15-minute walk from Haeundae Beach.Sunset slots are popular; expect long lines and many people.
Spectacular coastal scenery, especially at sunset. You will have to walk back or take another capsule from Cheongsapo Station back to Mipo.

Cheongsapo to Mipo Station Sky Capsule:

ProsCons
Cheongsapo to Mipo offers the most beautiful “golden hour” views at sunset.More suitable for the sunset moment than ocean views.
Offers a better route where you can walk from Haeundae to Cheongsapo and take a sky capsule back just in time for sunset.Visitors typically prefer to walk back or take a beach train from Cheongsapo than ride a sky capsule.
Less crowded and more likely to get tickets.Less recommended than Mipo Sky Capsule.

✨ IVK’s Take:

Deciding on whether the Mipo Sky Capsule or Cheongsapo Sky Capsule is better basically depends on personal preferences. The Mipo route is more popular because of its convenience and spectacular sea views. While the Cheongsapo route is recommended because it is easier to secure tickets. Regardless of which direction you choose, the ticket fare is the same. We also suggest that you do online reservations in advance, even for the Cheongsapo departure, for a hassle-free ride.

🚆 How To Get To Mipo Station & Cheongsapo Station

  • Enjoy a 10-minute walk to the Mipo Station.

How to get to Cheongsapo Station:

  • Take the Busan Subway Line 2 to Jangsan Station.
  • Use Exit 5.
  • Board the Haeundae-gu Bus No. 2 to the Cheongsapo Station.

💸 Where to Book Haeundae Sky Capsule Tickets?

Haeundae Sky Capsule Booking
Did you get your Haeundae Sky Capsule tickets?

I can’t exaggerate enough, but Haeundae Sky Capsule tickets sell out super fast. The sunset slot is the most popular and coveted, especially from the Mipo to Cheongsapo route. As such, it’s best to do online booking through trusted platforms like Klook, KKday, Viator, or GetYourGuide in advance. Both offer English support and guarantee instant booking. You can also book via the Haeundae Blueline Park’s official website, but be prepared for limited availability. In case you couldn’t get your hands on tickets, ride the Beach train or look out for the Cheongsapo to Mipo sky capsule, which has a low demand.
